The Video Driver Is Not Working for My Dell XPS M1210
- Your M1210's graphics adapter may stop working if the driver becomes corrupted or a new driver isn't installed properly. The Windows operating system gives you the option to roll back a driver that isn't functioning properly and return it to a working state. To find the roll back option, click the "Hardware and Sound" link in the "Control Panel" and click "Device Manager." Open the "Properties" window for the video driver and click the "Rollback" button on the "Drivers" tab.
- New hardware or software you install on your Dell XPS laptop may not be compatible with your current driver software. If the video driver is out-of-date, a newer version is available through Dell's support Web page for the M1210 model. To install a working version of the driver, open the "Video" tab on the "Driver & Downloads" page and click the "Download" button for the most recently released driver available.
- If your driver software is corrupt and fails to work properly, you may need to completely uninstall and then re-install the existing driver through your operating system. Navigate to the "Device Manager" window through the "Hardware and Sound" option in the "Control Panel." To delete the driver, open the video adapter's "Properties" window and click "Uninstall" in the "Driver" tab. Return to the "Driver" tab and click "Update Driver" to re-install the driver software.
- Your laptop's video driver may fail to properly work with the operating system if the BIOS (Basic Input/Output System) video settings have been changed. Resolving an incorrect video setting requires accessing the BIOS by tapping the "F2" key while the laptop is booting up. To restore the video options to their original settings after the BIOS menu has loaded, scroll to the "Exit" tab and select the "Load BIOS Defaults" entry.
