    • 1). Check the power cord on the Kenmore dryer and make sure it is firmly connected to the dryer as well as a grounded three-prong outlet if the dryer is not working. Replace or reset the fuse or circuit breaker, if necessary.

    • 2). Make a cycle selection and press "Start" firmly if there is power but the dryer has not started. Push the door closed completely.

    • 3). Check the gas valve and turn it on all the way if it is a gas dryer but there is no heat. Make a new cycle choice that uses heat. "Air" cycles do not add heat while drying.

    • 4). Remove lint from the lint screen if there is lint on items, items are damp after the cycle is done, or the dryer seems to run for a very long time. Make sure the dryer is not too full.

    • 5). Find the exhaust vent on the house exterior and clean it out if the dryer is not running as expected. Use the dryer in temperatures above 45 degrees Fahrenheit, as the unit cannot function properly in very cold temperatures.

    • 6). Check for loose zippers, hooks or snaps if items are getting ripped or damaged during the dry cycle. Take loose items out of pockets before drying.
