How to Convert Perchlorethylene Micrograms/Liter to Ppm

104 12
    • 1). Divide micrograms by 1,000,000 to convert them to grams. For example, if the concentration of perchlorethylene in water is 18 micrograms per liter (L) then 18 / 1,000,000 = 0.0000018 grams per L .

    • 2). Multiply 1 liter (L) by the density of water to convert it to grams. The density of water is usually taken as 1kg/L hence 1 L x 1 kg/L = 1 kg or 1,000 g.

    • 3). Write the concentration in as a fraction using the gram unit:

      Concentration = 18 micrograms / L = 0.0000018 g / 1,000 g.

    • 4). Multiply both the numerator and the denominator of the fraction by 1,000 to convert it to ppm. In this example, the concentration is (0.0000018 x 1,000) / (1,000 x 1,000) = 0.0018 / 1,000,000 or 0.0018 ppm since 1,000,000 is a million.
