How to Mount Brackets for a Cable Box
- 1). Find the stud in your wall nearest where you want to mount your cable box using your stud finder. Mark it with a pencil.
- 2). Make two vertical dots on the wall where the stud is with your pencil perfectly level using your bubble level. The dots should be the same distance apart as the top and bottom screw holes on the bracket you are using. Draw a straight line between the two dots.
- 3). Place the bracket against the wall matching the top and bottom dots with the screw holes on the bracket. With your pencil mark the exact location of all the screw holes on the mounting bracket.
- 4). Drill holes into the wall 2 inches deep using an 1/8 drill bit and your power drill at the dots you made on the wall so they match up with the screw holes on the mounting bracket.
- 5). Place the bracket against the wall and insert one of the screws that came with the mounting bracket into the top hole. With your Phillips screw drivers tighten the screw until it lays tight against the bracket.
- 6). Insert screws into the rest of the screw holes on the bracket and screw them into the wall.
