How to Repair a Backhoe Tire
- 1). Raise the vehicle with a five-ton jack placed beneath the axle. You may have to pull the backhoe forward to give you a clear view of the puncture before raising the tire.
- 2). Remove the obstruction with pliers, if necessary.
- 3). Insert the probe from the repair kit into the hole. Clean out and bore the hole by inserting and removing the probe several times. Lubricate the hole by dipping the probe into the supplied lubricant and inserting the probe into the hole.
- 4). Lace one or two adhesive plugs into the closed-eye hook from the kit. Use two if you were able to push the probe into the hole without a lot of difficulty. Push the plugs entirely through the hole. Pull them back until they are halfway out. Cut the plugs with wire cutters, approximately a quarter inch from the surface of the tire.
- 5). Pump air into the tire while monitoring the plug for signs of leaks. If you notice a leak, repeat the process with three plugs. Pump up the tire to the vehicle's recommended pressure. Lower the vehicle and remove the jack.
