Turn the Gateway laptop off. Turn it over and take the battery out. Unplug the power cord and all other cables.

    • 2). Loosen the small screw holding down the memory bay cover using a Philips screwdriver. Pull the cover up. It is located on the back of the laptop in the bottom right corner. You should now see either one or two memory modules, depending on how much memory your 7330Gz contains.

Press the two clips on either side of the memory stick outward, being as gentle as possible. The module should pop out. Grab the memory stick by the top or sides and pull it out. Do not touch the metal contacts on the bottom. Doing so could damage the memory. Repeat this step if a second memory module is present.

Align the notch with the corresponding bump in the slot.memory image by Valentin Mosichev from Fotolia.com

Slide each new memory module in label-side up at a 30-degree angle. Press inward, being sure to align the stick with the slot. Align the small notch near the middle of the memory with a corresponding "bump" in the middle slot. If the notch does not match up with the slot, the memory stick is upside-down. Push down once the memory stick is properly aligned. It will "click" into place as the slot clips clasp around it. Repeat this step if you have a second memory module to install.

    • 5). Put the memory bay cover back and tighten the corresponding screw. Replace the battery and plug all cords back in.
