Health care management programs are designed to prepare students for leadership positions in the health care industry. These professionals are responsible for improving medical care while making it cost-effective for patients and the medical facility. These individuals also must implement new technologies and equipment to improve the effectiveness and efficiency within the health care system. Career opportunities are available with hospitals, health care organizations, community health providers and long-term care facilities. - The Harvard School of Public Health offers a Master of Science in Health Care Management. This is a two-year program that teaches students to balance financial responsibilities, streamline health care delivery and understand patient needs. This is a part-time program for working students. The 42.5-credit program includes courses in organizational behavior, perspectives in public health, marketing, financial transactions, communications and competitive strategy determination.

harvard.edu - The University of Georgia offers a certificate program in Healthcare Management. This is a seven-module management training program that can be completed online. Students must complete six of the seven modules and have 30 days to complete each one. The modules include human resource development and staff relations; project management fundamentals for healthcare; systems thinking and the management team; finances and accounting; management ethics and value-based decision-making; cultural competency and diversity issues; and leadership skills development.
