Check the computer temperatures with BIOS. Not all BIOS systems include the temperature monitoring options, so you might or might not succeed with this step. To get into the BIOS - turn the computer on, and while it's booting, look for a line that says something like "Press F2 to Enter Setup." Press that button to enter BIOS and look for a tab named something like "Hardware Monitors" or "PC Health." Check your computer's manual for system specific instructions.

Download System Information for Windows. At the time of publication, SIW is available for free. The SIW utility includes general system information and monitoring for hardware and software. The hardware component includes temperature information for all components that include temperature sensors.

Download and install SpeedFan. At the time of publication, SpeedFan is available for free. This utility is designed to monitor temperatures, voltages and fan speeds. It also includes functions to change the fan speeds of individual components.
