Many people have very coarse and frizzy hair, and a little bit of humidity will make the hair even more difficult to manage. Instead of struggling with your out-of-control hair, fix it. There are several hairstyles and hair products that will make your frizzy hair sleek and smooth. - One of the best ways to get rid of frizzy hair is to make it poker straight by using a flatiron. A ceramic-plated flatiron will not only straighten the frizziest of hair, it will also keep the hair straight until it is washed. Flatirons can be expensive. Unfortunately, if you want straight hair that is also healthy and remains undamaged, you will have to invest in a good flatiron (as of 2010, they can cost as much as $300). Divide your hair in half, holding the top portion of your hair up with a hair clip. Split the bottom section half. Working with one half, put the hot flatiron (the coarser the hair, the hotter the flatiron should be) up to the top of the section of hair. Close plates of the iron over the hair section. Slowly pull the iron through the hair. This may need to be repeated if your hair is very frizzy. When the section of hair is straight, work on the other section. When you are finished with the bottom portion of your hair, unclip the top portion and repeat the process. In about 10 to 20 minutes, you will have poker straight, smooth and silky hair (even in high humidity). To get your hair to look its best, add a dime-size drop of hair serum to your hands and evenly distribute the serum to your hair. Focus mostly on the ends and the length of the hair (adding serum to the roots can make the hair greasy). To add protection to your hair, purchase a heat-resistant spray. Spray this throughout your hair prior to straightening it.
- If you prefer your hair to be wavy instead of poker straight, you can blow out your hair. Using a few simple techniques and a hair dryer, you can have wavy hair without the frizz. Wash your hair with a volumizing shampoo and conditioner. Divide your hair into two sections. Separate the top and bottom sections by clipping up the top section with a hair clip. Starting with the bottom sections, use a large, round boar-bristle hairbrush as you dry your hair (boar bristles will help add shine to your hair). Put the brush under the section of hair and pull it down through the hair as you apply the heat from a blow-dryer. Once you reach the end of the section, roll the hair up into the brush while applying heat. Repeat this until the section is completely dry. When finished with the bottom section of hair, unclip the top section and repeat the process. This will leave your hair in large, frizz-free waves. To add shine, apply a dime-size drop of hair serum throughout your hair.
- For a curlier look without the frizz, use ceramic rollers. Ceramic rollers will add curl and shine to your hair without leaving your hair frizzy. Wash and blow-dry your hair as you normally would. Wrap all of your hair with medium to large-size ceramic rollers. Start with a small section of hair at the crown of your head wrapped in the hot roller. Work your way down the back of your head. When the back section of your hair is in hot rollers, start on the sides of your head. Leave the rollers in your hair for five minutes for large curls, 10 minutes for medium curls and 20 minutes for tight curls. When time is up, slowly unroll each curler. Brush through your hair lightly to add volume. Apply serum to your hair to add a smooth and silky look.
