How to Install a New Seatbelt in a Pontiac Vibe
- 1). Isolate the seat belt that is damaged. Follow the belt strap until you locate the plastic housing at the end of the belt. Remove the two mounting screws securing the casing with a Phillips-head screwdriver.
- 2). Remove the two exposed mounting bolts inside the plastic casing with a wrench. Follow the shoulder harness to the other side and locate the mounting bolts attached to the other end of the harness. Remove the bolts with a wrench and pull the shoulder harness away from the seat belt.
- 3). Install a new shoulder harness by attaching the mounting bolts on the side that was disassembled last. Attach the bolts on the other side of the harness to secure it in place.
- 4). Remove the bolts located on each side of the seat belt side-anchor in the same way that you removed the shoulder harness. Pull the side-anchor belt away from the seat.
- 5). Install a new side-anchor seat belt by installing the mounting bolts on both sides of the belt. Make sure you install the seat belt so you are able to attach the buckle to the seat belt connector.
