How to Stake Pepper Plants

Measure approximately 1 foot away from your young pepper plant. Mark the spot in the ground using the end of a garden stake. - 2

Hammer the garden stake into the ground. Ensure it's at least 4 to 6 inches beneath the surface of the ground so it can provide support to your pepper plant as it grows and gets heavier. - 3). Allow your pepper plant to grow to a height of about 1 1/2 feet tall. At this point, the pepper plant will need support as it gets taller and heavier.

Tie twine around the main stem of the pepper plant at a point about 15 inches off the ground. - 5). Tie the other end of the twine around the stake, forming a loop around the pepper plant and garden stake. Allow for a few inches of slack to accommodate growth of the pepper plant and movement due to weather.
