Update Utility

• 1). Install the Asus Update Utility on your computer. There is a copy of the program on the installation disc that came with the motherboard. You can also download it from the Asus website.
  
  
• 2). Close all open programs and run the Update Utility. When the first screen appears, use the drop-down menu to select "Update BIOS from the Internet." Click "Next."
  
  
• 3). Select a download location from the drop-down menu. Ideally this should be the location closest to you, but the location you choose will not make a big difference. Click "Next."
  
  
• 4). Select the BIOS version you want to install from the drop-down menu. Generally you will select the latest version, unless you have a specific reason for wanting an earlier version. Click "Next." The program will download the file. Once complete, the warning screen will appear asking you whether you want to proceed with the update. Click "Yes" and then follow the prompts, if any appear.
  
  Once the update process begins, do not touch your computer until it tells you that you can.
  
  

Asus EZ Flash 2

• 1). Navigate to the Asus website and download the BIOS file for the P5K. Save the file on the USB drive you are going to use for the update.
  
  
• 2). Ensure the USB drive is plugged into the computer and reboot. When the post screen appears, press the "Alt" and "F2" keys at the same time. The post screen is the first screen that appears after you start the computer and you will see the prompt "Press DEL to Enter Setup." If you waited too long, reboot and try again. Once you do it correctly, the EZ Flash 2 Utility screen will appear.
  
  
• 3). Press "Tab" to scroll through the drives listed in the left pane and select your USB drive. Press"Enter." The program will now search for the BIOS file and list it in the main window once it finds it. Press "Enter." A warning screen will appear. Press "Tab" to switch to "OK" and press "Enter." The update will begin. Do not turn off or use the computer until it tells you that it is ready.
