    • 1). Lift up the presser foot of your sewing machine. Remove the screw on the side of the presser foot and set the presser foot aside.

    • 2). Remove the needle plate, side plate and bobbin and set them aside as well.

    • 3). Tip the sewing machine over until it is laying on its side with the bottom of the machine facing you.

    • 4). Remove the bottom covers, making sure you keep the corresponding screw with each cover and set them aside. Remove the plate from the side bottom of the machine, exposing the end of the shaft. You may have to remove a second screw from beneath this plate.

    • 5). Pull gently on the piece just inside the bottom right of the machine. Loosen the Allen screws holding the shaft in place. To access these screws, you may have to turn the handwheel.

    • 6). Loosen the screws that hold the gear located near the middle bottom as well as the gear for the bobbin case. Remove any clips holding the gears in place.

    • 7). Slide the shaft to the right of the machine. By shifting the shaft, you will be able to slip off the gears. Replace the gears. Do Steps 1 through 7 in reverse order to put the machine back together again.
