    • 1). Set the fence on the table saw at 3/4 of an inch from the saw blade. Adjust the height of the blade to 1/2-inch high. Turn one of the 10-inch boards on its narrow side, and run it through the saw so a groove is cut along the length of the board. Label this as board #1.

    • 2). Adjust the fence so it is 1-inch from the blade. Turn the second 10-inch board so the wider side is down. Run it through the saw making a groove that runs the length of the board. Label this as board #2.

    • 3). Sand both boards, including the grooves, so there are no rough edges or potential for splinters.

    • 4). Pre-drill four screw holes through the wider side of board #1. The holes should be 3/4 of an inch from the bottom of the board so the screws won't go through the grooves in either board.

    • 5). Lay board #2 on the work surface with the groove facing up and closest to the back. Apply glue to the back surface. Stand board #1 with the groove side up behind board #2 . Clamp them together with two clamps. Do not cover the screw holes with the clamps.

    • 6). Put the four screws into board #1 and tighten all the way, so they go into board number #2. Leave the clamps on over night to allow the glue to thoroughly dry.

    • 7). Finish the wood with two coats of polyurethane following the product directions for the timing between coats and final drying.
