How to Make Greek Lamb Sliders with Feta

Now that it is time to clean up and bring out the BBQ’s, we have a special recipe for you to make some delicious sliders  - lamb sliders that is.

We make these every summer at least a few times. Paired with some homemade feta fries, because burgers always need fries, and I am in heaven.

We created this recipe on accident actually. We had found some ground lamb on sale while we were out to buy ground beef to make burgers. We thought, why not use lamb? Yes, very Greek thinking I know.

When we were at home, we pulled out a few ingredients that we hoped would work well together. The result was what is listed below.

I do find making these fun as you have to get your hands dirty and mix everything together, form the patties and place them on the grill. There is something about using your hands while cooking. For me, I feel like I am connecting with the food. That I am working hard to create something that will be served up as a meal. Do not get me wrong, using a mixer is nice at times, but there is something about having a “hands on” approach to cooking.

While this recipe is for the lamb sliders themselves, if you would really like to complete the meal in a proper way, you will need to add a spoonful of tzatziki to the burger. It is not because I love the cucumber yogurt sauce, but rather it ties everything together.
We have found that people who are not lamb fans love these sliders, especially since the added ingredients and tzatziki help tame the distinct lamb flavor.

Ingredients
  • 1 lb lamb, ground
  • 2 garlic cloves, pressed
  • 1 teaspoon oregano
  • ½ cup pitted Kalamata olives
  • 4 ounces crumbled feta
  • 1 egg
  • Salt & pepper
  • Dash of parsley

  • Prep Time: 10 minutes
  • Cook Time: 10 minutes

  • Total Time: 20 minutes
  • Yield: 5-6

Preparation
  1. Dice olives and add to mixing bowl.
  2. Next, combine all remaining ingredients.
  3. Mix all ingredients together - get your hands dirty!
  4. Break off piece of meat and roll into a ball about the size of a golf ball.*
  5. Flatten to create small patties.
  6. Repeat until lamb mixture is gone.
  7. Turn on grill to medium/high heat and cook for about 4 minutes on each side, or until desired cooking preference is achieved (med, well-done, etc.,)

  1. Last few minutes, add buns to get warm and slightly crispy, if desired.
  2. Remove buns, and then patties, resting lamb slider on bun.
  3. Add toppings you may like: tomatoes, lettuces, onions, etc,.
  4. Optional:  add teaspoon of tzatziki
  5. Serve!

Notes

*If you would like to make burgers and not sliders, when doing step 4, make them bigger to your preference. If you do this, just adjust cooking times.
