How to Recover a Password in the BIOS of a Packard Bell
- 1). Turn on the computer and press the default BIOS key if the computer's startup is not locked.
- 2). Type "bell9" into the password prompt. This is the back-door password used on some Packard-Bell motherboards. If it works, enter the BIOS setup menu and change the password.
- 3). Download and run the CmosPwd utility if the back-door password does not work. It will decrypt and return the BIOS setup password that is stored in the CMOS chip.
