Stereo System Setup Tips
- 1). Place your audio equipment. The very first thing you want to do is decide on where you want to place the equipment. If you are connecting to part of an entertainment system, figure out where you want to place the rear and front speakers. Often this will depend on the room size, furniture and if you want to put speaker wire in your walls.
- 2). Make a path for the speaker wire or other wires and cables. The front speakers may be connected to the main audio device behind an entertainment center, but rear speakers and other remote parts to the sound system can either have the cables go along the wall, ceiling, under a rug or through your walls. If you wish to go through the walls you'll need to use a drill to make a hole, use wire to fish the cables and use wall plates to cover the holes on each end.
- 3). Connect the audio equipment to the devices which you want to use and any speakers you have set up. This usually involves just plugging the cables from the output of the television or other device to the input of the audio equipment. Speaker cables can be a variety of types but are usually one or two wires that plug into the back of the speaker with a labeled connection. The other end will plug into the appropriately marked spot on the equipment.
- 4). Test out the system to hear how it sounds. You may want to move the speakers or system around for your optimal listening enjoyment, depending on where you will listen from. You may also find that certain locations cause a higher echo or block the sound in some way.
