How to Move a Queen Palm
- 1). Find an area in your yard to move the queen palm to. It should have full sun and well drained, sandy soil.
- 2). Water the base of the queen palm for 20 minutes one to two hours before you want to move it. This ensures the root ball is moist.
- 3). Dig a hole around the base of the queen palm tree 3 feet in diameter around the tree and as deep as the root ball. Remove the palm from hole with the rope.
- 4). Dig a new hole for the queen palm as deep as the root ball and three times as wide. Place the palm tree's root ball into the hole and fill the hole halfway with soil. Fill the hole with water and allow the soil to settle. Finish filling the hole with soil and water the palm again for 10 minutes.
- 5). Wrap palm support around the queen and nail the wooden boards into the support. Keep the support on the palm until the root ball is large enough to support the palm on its own.
