How to Sterilize an Eye
- 1). Clean your hands thoroughly to ensure any chemicals on them are washed off. If you need to remove contact lenses, wash your hands before and after removing the lens, as the process of removing them can get some of the chemical on your fingers.
- 2). Rinse out the eye cup with warm water.
- 3). Fill the cup halfway with sterile eye-wash solution.
- 4). Bend your head so it is facing down, then raise the cup until it forms a suction around the eye being washed.
- 5). Tilt your head back so the wash comes down onto your eye.
- 6). Open your eye, and look around in every direction for several seconds, to expose the entire eye to the wash.
- 7). Tilt your head forward again, and remove the wash from your eye.
- 8). Rinse the cup with warm water and repeat on the same eye or on your other eye as well if desired, rinsing between each application.
