104 11
    • 1). Remove the fan from the computer by removing the computer's side panel and locating the fan on the motherboard of the computer. Be sure to turn off the machine before you remove any cables. Unplug the CPU fan, and if the fan is attached to a heatsink, press the two tabs on either side to release the fan.

    • 2). Set your fan on a flat work surface when it has been disconnected from your computer and use a flat-tipped screwdriver to peel back the round sticker on the back of the fan.

    • 3). Pull out the rubber plug located in the center of the fan, using your screwdriver to wedge it out. This will reveal a well in which you will find the sleeve bearing.

    • 4). Apply a single drop of lightweight mechanical oil to the top sleeve bearing assembly. Reassemble the plug, replace the sticker and your oiled fan is ready to be reinstalled into the computer.
