How to Troubleshoot a Roper Dryer That Will Not Start
- 1). Check to make sure the Roper dryer is connected to a working power supply that is 240 volts or higher. Use a volt meter, available at most hardware stores, to check.
- 2). Reset the circuit breaker or fuse if needed. Be aware that dryers often need two fuses or circuit breakers to operate correctly.
- 3). Do not plug the dryer into an extension cord. Extension cords should not be used with dryers because they can't supply enough power.
- 4). Shut the dryer door until it latches closed and move the control dial to a cycle. Pull the dial out to start the dryer. The dryer will not work if the dial is not turned towards a cycle and pulled out to start.
- 5). Contact Whirlpool for assistance if the above steps do not resolve the problem. Other causes for this problem may include a broken motor, timer or belt, among others, and need professional repair.
