How to Change the Color of Flower Petals
- 1). Fill several vases about 3/4 full of water. Drip a few drops of food coloring into each vase, making each one a different color. You may use the traditional primary colors or mix them to create orange, purple and green as well. Use up to 6 vases to create a rainbow of colors. Make sure the colors are nice and dark for best results.
- 2). Place three or four flowers into each vase. Make sure they are cut right before you put them in the water; otherwise, they won't drink. If it has been several hours since the flowers were cut, snip about 1 inch from the stem of each while holding it under running water.
- 3). Wait about 24 hours for the flowers to soak up some color. You should see the colors begin to stripe the petals. You may either leave the flowers in their current color water, which will produce solid flowers, or switch them to another vase to create rainbow flowers.
