How Be2.com Works

Signing up took me through a questionnaire about what I am looking for in a partner and what kind of traits best describe me.

It's similar to eHarmony, but not nearly as long. Getting through the questions and adding a picture took about 15 minutes; none of the questions or process seemed unusual or out of place.

Be2 easy to move around with tabs and the ability to tweak certain features, even though there weren't a lot of features to tweak. My profile tab lets you tell the world about yourself and it's nicely laid out.

The search features at Be2 were more than lacking. One of the questions upon signing up was my physical location, but I wasn't able to choose where I lived as being anything closer than a two hour drive away. I also wasn't able to search by sexual preference or gender, but I could using age, height, or very general geographical regions to find potential matches. Even with very open search options, I found no one closer than another country away.

It's relatively easy to contact others, but I couldn't see a picture of anyone without having uploaded one of my own, first. Before I made contact I could see our matched compatibility however, which let me know based on the questions I answered when signing up, what we had in common and what might be an issue.

There was an option to send a pre-made question or flirt as well, but I wasn't able to use either feature without paying. No one that I contacted has replied as of yet.

I didn't see any apps to use with Be2, nor did I find a chat or instant messaging feature.

Be2 Cancellation and Termination Policies

I found a few interesting and somewhat unusual policies with Be2, as well as some standard clauses worth mentioning, since few people review the fine print before signing up with most dating sites:

• There are no refunds with Be2, however if you cancel the service they will pro-rate a refund for any amount of time that's left unused.
• Be2, like most dating sites, uses automatic billing. That means that if you don't cancel your account with them before the contract period ends, your credit card will get automatically billed for another three months. In this case, you must request termination through the Settings tab of the Be2 site, under "Premium Membership."

• One month for $5 to try things out, which when over automatically gets billed into three month program (below);
• Three months for $59.99/month, billed as one installment of $179.97;
• Six months for $29.99/month, billed as one installment of $179.94;
• Twelve months for $29.99/month, billed as one installment of $359.88.

Accepts credit cards as payment. Be2 practices automatic billing practices, which means you'll be charged for another month (or three months, or whatever amount of months you signed up for) at the end of the billing cycle unless you cancel well in advance.

The Bottom Line

In it's attempts to offer all-in-one dating site service to the masses, Be2 missed some key, basic features that free sites like Plenty of Fish nailed years ago. While easy to navigate, Be2 lacks a robust search function; try looking for people by sexual orientation. Registration, while free, doesn't give you any access other than to visit the site, so potential members can't get a good idea as to what they're in for should they decide to pay for services. If you don't mind meeting or talking to people outside your geographical area and really love the layout of Be2, give it a try, but otherwise there are better dating site options available.
