What Maintenance Does a 1995 Toyota 4Runner Need?
- The 1995 Toyota 4Runner maintenance schedule is divided into seven major areas. The first is for engine maintenance. Valves for the 22R-E engine should be adjusted every 30,000 miles. If your 4Runner is equipped with a 3VZ-E engine, an adjustment every 60,000 miles will suffice.
The drive belts should be inspected at 30,000 miles for wear and replaced, if damaged. After the initial inspection, the belts should be inspected every year or at 7,500 miles, whichever comes first.
An oil change, including an oil filter change, is recommended for every 7,500 miles. The radiator antifreeze fluid should be replaced at 45,000 miles or three years; after that, it should be replaced every two years or 30,000 miles.
Exhaust pipes and mountings should be inspected every 30,000 miles. - Toyota recommends adjusting the idle speed every two years or 30,000 miles. The air filter should be replaced and the fuel lines inspected at the same time that the idle speed is adjusted. The fuel tank cap gasket, the small rubber ring around the gas cap, should be replaced every 60,000 miles.
- For the spark plugs, it is recommended that they be replaced every 30,000 miles. Spark plug wiring is inspected at this time for wear and replaced as needed. The charcoal canister evaporator should be inspected every five years or 60,000 miles. The recommended maintenance for the exhaust system is to inspect the heated oxygen sensor every 80,000 miles and replace, if necessary.
- The brake system, including pads or linings and drums, calipers, disks, brake lines and hoses should be inspected every two years or 15,000 miles. The lifetimes of the brakes depend heavily on the style of driving and the type of pads installed.
Chassis maintenance includes steering linkage, ball joints and dust covers, drive shaft boots, transmission and differential, and the steering gear housing oil. Each should be inspected every two years or 15,000 miles. The front wheel bearing and the thrust bush grease should be replaced at five years or 60,000 miles.
The propeller shaft grease on the four-wheel-drive models should be replaced every 15,000 miles. All bolts and nuts that secure parts to the chassis and body of the 4Runner should be inspected when the propeller grease is replaced.
