How to Make a Paper Chef Hat for a Toddler
- 1
Paper, pencil, ruler, scissors, and tape.
Gather your materials. - 2
Cut band.
Cut one sheet of paper lengthwise, into thirds. You should now have three separate pieces. - 3
Tape band together.
Tape the short edges together, to make one long strip. This will be the band. Set this piece aside. - 4
Lay out pattern.
Gather the rest of the paper, and lay them out as shown. - 5
Tape the pattern together.
Tape the four pages together. You should now have one large sheet that measures 17" x 22". - 6
Sketch a 7
Lightly sketch a 7" circle in the center of the large sheet. Use your ruler to measure the diameter of the circle, don't worry if you're slightly off within an inch. - 7
Draw crown lines.
Next, draw lines extending from the circle to the outer edges of the sheet, as shown. - 8
Cut crown lines.
Beginning from the outer edge, cut on the lines that lead to the center circle, and stop the cut once your scissors meet the circle. Continue cutting this way, until all extending lines have been cut. - 9
Measure band to fit.
Next, find the long strip that you set aside earlier, and wrap it around you child's head. - 10
Tape band together.
Tape the edge of the band, to form a circle, that should fit perfectly on your child's head. Cut off the excess. Set aside. - 11
Gather crown strips.
Get your large sheet, and make sure the sketching is face up. Begin gathering the cut strips as shown, in groups of threes. - 12
Attach crown to band.
Tape the gathered strips of the large sheet, to the inside of the band. Continue doing this, until all the gathered strips are taped to the band. Tape them together in groups of three. - 13
