Golf courses use instruction programs as part of their community outreach. They also provide an opportunity to get young people involved in the game as they learn proper fundamentals. Courses in Minnesota offer programs designed for beginning players, but also have some camps that focus on helping more experienced young golfers improve their skills and knowledge of the game. - Highland National Golf Course in St. Paul is the home course for The First Tee of Minnesota. First Tee is a program designed to teach the game of golf to young people and teach life skills using the sport. First Tee hosts camps, clinics and tournaments and also provides ongoing training for youth golfers in the program. Highland National offers free clinics on some Saturdays when young golfers are invited to use the driving range at no cost, and receive training from First Tee instructors. Rules and etiquette are part of the First Tee training experience.
