How Do I Remove the Rear Tire on a 1999 Honda Accord?
- 1). Set your Honda Accord's emergency brake. This will help stabilize the vehicle and avoid accidental rolling while it is lifted off the ground.
- 2). Place blocks around either of the front tires of the vehicle. This secondary precaution ensures the vehicle will not roll if both rear wheels are lifted while jacking up the vehicle.
- 3). Loosen the lug nuts on the tire/wheel to be removed by turning the nuts counterclockwise approximately 1/2 turn with a lug wrench. If you have a 6-cylinder Accord, there are five lug nuts; after the first nut is loose, loosen the nut on the opposite side and continue in a star pattern until all lug nuts are loose. The 4-cylinder Accord has four lug nuts; after the first nut is loose, loosen the nut directly opposite that one and continue in a crisscross pattern until all lug nuts are loose.
- 4). Jack the vehicle up until the tire/wheel is lifted from the ground. Remove the lug nuts completely. You may have to press the wheel towards the vehicle on the tire farthest from the lug so that the tire is not levered against the nut.
- 5). Remove the tire/wheel from the vehicle.
