Shawn - I found this campground through friends, and I tent camped there in July 2006.
Campground Review
This is my favorite campground so far. They are 40+ sites first come first serve. Show up Thursday, or before 2 pm on Friday. We showed up Saturday at noon. Talked to everybody and found one group that was leaving. There are beautiful 50-foot waterfalls (like a miniature Niagara Falls).
Lots of trails. Hiking is super, easy, mostly level or minor inclines. Hiking upstream can be dangerous. Half the trail was not even accessible and hasn't been for quite some time. No problems on the trail going downstream. Campsites are very far apart (this is a big plus for us) with an abundance of beautiful towering fir trees. I am not good with distance, but I guessed the falls right at 50 feet and was dead on. I'd say the trees are 50-100 feet tall.
The campground is far enough away from most major cities that it's not flooded with drunk idiots, and it's not so far that you have to travel dirt roads to get there. Supposedly fishing is allowed. I did not see any signs stating if it was catch and release or what. Swimming also. Nice to see more tents or small RV's than the huge coaches to destroy the woodsy feeling. There is only one place to get water. We bring our own, so no biggie. Toilets are pit type, but nice. There are no showers or flush toilets, and no water/electric hookups that we could see.
