With life in most big urban areas becoming so fast paced, it may be difficult for home owners, office goers, companies and tenants to maintain their homes and offices in the best possible conditions of freshness, neatness, hygiene and aesthetics.
This is where the all important domestic cleaners can be a boon.
Today, there are literally thousands of domestic agencies which not only offer reliable and trustworthy staff but also provide top-quality cleaning services for a variety of needs and preferences.
However, there are some features to keep in mind before you hire domestic cleaners.
Safety Ensure that the staff supplied by your agency have been thoroughly screened for responsible, reliable and sincere work ethics.
Often you may leave the house in their care while you're at work or on holiday.
Hence you must be able to trust them.
They must be honest, respect your privacy and not take advantage of the circumstances.
However, to be on the safe side, don't keep any valuables, documents or other expensive things lying around and make sure that you move such items to a safer place if you don't have locking facilities at home.
You will have to leave the power and water supply on.
Additionally, ensure that the staff are all covered by the requisite insurances and documentation.
Face-to-face As far as possible, arrange to meet the cleaning staff before you sign the final contract so that you're not dealing with a faceless entity.
Avoid making any commitments or sharing too much information with them.
If you have any concerns regarding their suitability, inform the agency immediately.
If you're leaving your keys with the cleaner, make sure you get a properly filled out 'Key Acknowledgment Form', with suitable safeguards.
In case of last-minute changes in personnel, make sure that you take the time to go through a similar process.
Cleaning materials It's always better to use the materials supplied by the company though they may charge you a little extra for it.
This is to avoid any complaints by staff about sub-standard products, damage caused by harsh chemicals to your belongings or to the staff themselves.
If you prefer your own brand of shampoos or cleaning agents, make sure that this is acceptable to the staff.
Check on the kind of equipment they will be using and whether these appliances are suitable for your furniture, flooring and upholstery.
Extras Read through the service terms and documents carefully before you sign.
Often you may have contracted for certain services and they may not be provided or vice-versa.
Services like windows, upholstery, polishing or wood or silver, ironing, removing lime-scale in the sinks or even emptying the trash may not be on the staff's list and if you need these services, you may have to pay more.
Once you've covered these issues, employing domestic cleaners can be a rewarding and satisfying experience!
