How Can I Synchronize Two Computers on the Same Network?
- 1). Open the Notepad application.
- 2). Create a batch file by typing the following lines:
XCOPY [Source][Destination]
XCOPY [Source][Destination] - 3). Save this file with the name "Sync.cmd" in the Windows folder.
- 4). Ensure the second computer is on the network and identify its network path.
- 5). Go to the command prompt by clicking on the "Start" menu and navigating to "Run..."
- 6). Type the command:
SYNC "Source folder" "Destination folder" /S.
Ensure that the "Source folder" and the "Destination folder" are complete network paths for the folders that need to be synchronized. - 1). Download a free application like "FolderShare" for your system and install it (see Resources).
- 2). Follow the wizard to set up a FolderShare account. All you need is an email account and a password.
- 3). Assign your computer a name to reference it. If it is a home computer, you can use a name like "Home PC."
- 4). Allow FolderShare connections through the firewall when the firewall popup appears.
- 5). Repeat this process on the other computer on the network that you are synchronizing.
- 6). Choose "I've Already Created an Account" in the wizard, and enter the same email address and password as in the other computer.
- 7). Allow FolderShare connections through the firewall for the second computer as well.
- 8). Launch FolderShare from the system tray. This will launch the FolderShare website.
- 9). Follow the wizard to the "Create a personal library" link. Specify the source and destination folders.
