Drinking Water Plants in Florida
- With its abundant number of naturally occurring springs and multiple aquifers, Florida is home to a number of bottled water processing plants. Pumping this essential natural resource from both underground springs and natural surface formations, these companies filter, process, bottle and deliver pure drinking water to hundreds of locations and thousands of customers, both business and residential. They include companies such as Water Boy, Silver Springs Bottled Water Company and Iron River Springs.
- Located in the heart of Florida's "lake country," the Silver Springs Bottled Water Company's website explains that it processes and bottles a variety of drinking water products. These include mineral-free distilled water, purified well water and spring water. All of these products receive further treatment by UV light, micron filtration and ozonation (ozone exposure) to eliminate germs and other impurities. The spring water the company provides is sourced at protected natural springs and is delivered to them in stainless steel tank trucks.
- Founded in 1938 and located in Bradenton, on Florida's west coast, Water Boy Inc. claims to be the state's largest family-owned bottled water company. The firm's delivery area includes both Florida's Gulf Coast communities and those farther south toward Miami. In addition to processing and bottling water in 16.9-oz. single-serve containers, the company provides water in 3- and 5-gallon bottles for coolers, as well as bottleless water systems, private label promotional products and coffee delivery service.
- Zephyrhills Water, a division of Nestle Waters North America, is located in central Florida in a community originally named Abbott Station. The company takes great pride in its environmental awareness, which includes the specially designed "Eco-Shape" bottle that requires 30 percent less plastic to manufacture, features reduced-size labeling and is 100 percent recyclable. The company's water sources include local springs as well as recently acquired sites in north Florida. Zephyrhills packages its spring water in a variety of containers from child-sized "Aqua Pod" bottles to 3- and 5-gallon bottles for home and office delivery.
- Located in the north Florida community of Marianna, the spring water bottling plant owned by Ice River Springs is one of several company locations sited in both the United States and Canada. To produce products of consistent quality, in addition to protecting the springs it owns, the company even manufactures its own plastic containers. Water products include mineral-free distilled water, purified well water and natural spring water. The company markets product under its own label and offers private labeling services as well.
