Myles Munroe – A literacy introduction to the Holy Spirit
My reason for writing this testimony is not the obvious one. I am certainly no expert on the subject of God. My desire is to share my miracle-like experience that proves that God exists. When we develop through life we each have questions upon questions. Not just any sort of questions but the three most enthralling questions that any human being could ever ask themselves in the course of their lifetime.
The questions in their simplified terms; is there a God? Why am I here? What is my purpose? These questions would nag at me incessantly and I'm certain that people go through life asking themselves these exact same questions. And the answers seem to elude us, always just out of reach. Today, people are fact-driven; we need evidence before we form opinions and often dismiss events that cannot be logically explained. Yet we want the security that comes with having a certain future. As I see it, people can be categorized into two different groups: those who look for solace in organized religion and its promise of afterlife, and those who consider themselves spiritual but not religious €" they believe their souls are going somewhere, they're not sure exactly where.
Regardless of what category you're in, we all want the same thing. We all want confirmation that what we believe is true. We want proof of modern-day encounters with the supernatural. I've been offered proof of God's existence at regular episodes in my life through experiences so deep-seated they've given goose bumps to atheists. These manifestations have blanketed me with an inner peace, washing away my fears and giving me hope for the future.
Months elapse and life events have their adverse effects, and like all fallible humans, I start to question again until yet another unexpected collision with the Holy Spirit awakens me like a plunge into cold water and just like that my faith is recharged. I know I am not alone. Because the evidence we're given is not tangible, its often held tightly for a short time and then released. But our appetite is unappeasable. Like ants to sugar, we crave more. That is what has brought you here. That is why people the world over never have peace of mind. They are inadvertently searching for a divine intervention with God.
My encounter with the Holy Spirit came upon me when I was only a couple of months into the Lord; I read a book by Myles Munroe called €In Pursuit of Purpose€. During the time I read this book, I had my first encounter with the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit lifted my burdens, gave me understanding and the will to desperately seek God more. And I continue to have a fresh encounter with him. I hope my testimony encourages you to be in the quest of his goodness too. God Bless you!
