How to Install a Ceiling Fan Rod
- 1). Thread the ceiling fan wires through the ceiling fan down rod.
- 2). Insert the ceiling fan down rod into the round collar at the top of the motor. Depending on the model, the down rod screws in or slips into the collar.
- 3). Push the cotter pin from the ceiling fan mounting hardware through the holes in the collar and the down rod. Push the stop pin into the small hole at the end of the cotter pin to hold the pin in place. This is only applicable for down rods that do not screw into the ceiling fan.
- 4). Tighten the set screw on the side of the collar with an adjustable wrench to secure either the screw-in and slip-in down rod.
