Did you know that there are literally hundreds of items and devices inside of you house that are stealing your electricity and costing you money every single day? It is true and it is called phantom electricity usage.
Electric companies and utilities companies have tested and proven that most common household electronics and appliances use small amounts of electricity even when they are turned off.
Now some of these items probably will not surprise you that they are using a small amount of electricity.
Take for example your surround sound stereo that is sitting in your living room right now.
When you turn it off there is probably a light someplace that lightly glows in the dark.
Well you guessed it this light is using electricity.
Next time you are in your living room at night with all your electronics turned off just take a look around and you will probably see half a dozen or more lights dimly glowing.
The amount of electricity these devices are using is small but over time they do add up.
Now there are other devices around your that you probably did not know are phantom user of your electricity.
For example coffee makers, some coffee makers use electricity even if they are turned off.
The only way to be sure they are not using electricity is to unplug them.
Another else test to determine if an electronic or item in your house is a phantom electricity user is if it uses a remote control.
If it does than chances are very good that device is using electricity when turned off.
If you want to test exactly how much electricity an electronic or appliance is using there are electronic gadgets out there that can tell you.
These electricity saving gadgets are very easy to use.
You simply plug them in and then plug your electronic or appliance into the gadget.
