How to Make an at Home Conditioner

    Extracting Coconut Milk

    • 1). Use a knife to cut three holes into the top of the coconut where the three black eyes are located. Hold the coconut over a small bowl, and drain the clear liquid from the coconut.

    • 2). Use a sharp tool to gently tap the middle of the coconut to crack it in half. Taste the white part of the coconut to make sure it is not bad. Remove the white from the inside of the coconut. Cut up any large pieces.

    • 3). Pour the white part of the coconut into a blender. Add 1 to 2 cups of hot water (more water for thinner milk). Continue to blend the liquid for 30 seconds.

    • 4). Strain the coconut milk with a cheesecloth over a medium-size bowl.

    Making the Conditioner

    • 1). Cut an avocado in half, and remove the seed. Peel one-half of the avocado, and wrap the other half tightly in plastic wrap, and place back in the refrigerator.

    • 2). Place the avocado in a medium-size bowl. Use a potato masher to mash the avocado. Add 1 tsp. of water at a time (if needed) to soften it up.

    • 3). Pour about 1 cup of coconut milk in with the mashed avocado. Stir until well blended.

    • 4). Add 4 to 5 drops of olive oil to the mixture and stir. Pour in 2 drops of lavender oil or rose oil for fragrance.

    Using the Conditioner

    • 1). Wet your hair with warm water, and shampoo regularly. Rinse the shampoo completely out of your hair.

    • 2). Squeeze any excess water out of your hair by gently applying pressure to the top of your head with the palms of your hands. At the same time move down your head, and squeeze the hair like you're making a ponytail as you get to the ends.

    • 3). Place a dime-size amount of the mixture on your hands for short hair, a nickel-size mixture for shoulder-length hair, and a quarter-size amount or more for longer hair. Slowly work the mixture into your hair by starting at the roots and working your way towards the ends. Make sure your entire head is coated with the mixture.

    • 4). Allow the mixture to sit for about 2 to 3 minutes. Rinse with cool water for shinier hair or with warm water if you have oily hair.
