My Win XP Computer Is Slow & the Svchost Is Running High in the CPU
- 1). Try to reset your computer. Go to the Program list and choose "Accessories,"
"System tools" and then "System Restore." Choose an older date and then let your computer restore to an older date. This can often fix one or more problems. - 2). Remove adware and viruses. Install a spyware-removal program such as Super AntiSpyware and an anti-virus program such as AVG, which both have free versions. Run a full scan on your computer with each type of software. Choose to remove any viruses and spyware.
- 3). Reinstall Windows XP if nothing else works. Sometime your computer just has too many problems but reinstalling Windows XP can fix most of them. Insert the Windows XP CD in the drive and restart the computer. Push any key listed to boot from the CD drive. Hit F8 to accept the license and choose to install Windows in the same place on your C drive.
