How to Fix a Whirlpool Washer With an F35 Code Alert
- 1). Run an empty cycle without using any detergent. Often the fault code displays when too much detergent is used and the detergent sits in the drainage system. A cycle without any detergent is often enough to clear out the buildup.
- 2). Pull the drain hose out of the standpipe mounted to the wall behind the washing machine. Complete a visual inspection of the hose for any clogs. If you see any, remove the screw that holds the hose clamp onto the discharge pump and then force water through the drain hose with pressurized water from a garden hose. Reattach the hose and then run an empty cycle to see if the code goes away.
- 3). Remove the screws that secure the toe panel to the bottom front of the washing machine, using a screwdriver. Lift the panel up and off the washing machine. Locate the filter cover for the discharge pump and remove it. Clean the filter in a sink with fresh water and then reinstall the filter cover. When you pull the filter cover off the housing, expect some water to come out. Have a towel ready to soak up the water. If you still get the error code after cleaning the filter, go on to the next step.
- 4). Remove the screws that secure the top of the washing machine onto the housing and then set the top off to the side. Locate the pressure switch. The switch has a clear hose and wiring harness connected to it. Unplug the hose and blow through it to clear it of any obstructions. Reattach the hose. Check the air dome, which is on the other end of the hose, for obstructions. Remove them. If the hose was free of obstructions, you must replace the defective pressure switch. If the hose was clogged, reinstall the top and test again with an empty load. If you still get the error code, you must replace the pressure switch.
