How to Troubleshoot a Lexmark 3400 Series Printer
- 1). Press the "Up" arrow then the power button until you see "Language reset" if the control panel is using the wrong language. Press the up and down arrows to select the language you want.
- 2). Check the cables if the printer does not power on, or the printer will not print. Disconnect and reconnect the power cord and printer cables, then try your print job again.
- 3). Log on to your computer and open the "Start" menu. Type "services.msc" in the search bar on the Start menu and press "Enter," then scroll down to the "Print Spooler" service. Right-click and choose "Start" if the print spooler service is not running. If the print spooler service is not running, the computer and the Lexmark 3400 cannot communicate with one another.
- 4). Replace the ink cartridges if the printouts appear light or faded. Open the top of the printer, wait for the print cartridge carrier to stop moving, then carefully lift the old print cartridge out. Remove the protective tape from the new cartridge, then carefully set it in the printer and push gently until it snaps into place.
- 5). Remove the paper from the paper tray and check inside the printer for any jammed paper if you experience frequent paper feed problems. Remove any jammed paper you find.
- 6). Place the paper back in the tray and adjust the paper guides to match the paper size you are using. If the paper guides are too loose or too tight, it can cause the printer to grab multiple sheets, resulting in frequent jams.
