How to Troubleshoot a Thermaltake USB Docking Station
- 1). Verify that the power cord at the back of the docking station is firmly connected. Remove and reconnect the cord. If the docking station does not power on, plug it in to an outlet that you know works. If it still does not power on, the docking station is defective and should be returned to the point of purchase.
- 2). Turn the docking station off, then remove and reconnect the hard drive. The connectors should face down when placing the hard drive in the docking station.
- 3). Push firmly on the hard drive to make sure its connection to the docking station is flush. Power on the docking station and wait for it to recognize the hard drive. Then log on to your computer and look for the drive. Click the "Start" button, then right-click "My Computer" to display a list of available drives on your computer. The drive in the Thermaltake USB docking station should be shown as an external device.
- 4). Disconnect the USB cable from your computer and plug it into another port. Plug a mouse or some other external device into the USB port to make sure it is working. If the USB port is not working, the port may not be connected to the motherboard, or the motherboard may be defective and needs to be replaced.
- 5). Remove the USB cable connecting the Thermaltake docking station to your computer. Shut down the computer, then insert the USB cable and boot the computer with the docking station attached. It should now be ready for use.
