Use Visual Aids

• Use visual aids to drive home your point. Use just as much nonverbal communication as verbal communication when teaching. Verbal communication is a good way to express thoughts and ideas and to educate, but without visual aids the listener may not catch all the information. Implement visual aids to capture the audience's attention and keep it. Use PowerPoint presentations, short drama sketches and demonstrations to entertain the class while teaching the lesson. Combine verbal communication with visual aids to make the information more memorable.
  
  

Implement Group Discussion

• Implement group discussion to provide ownership over the information being taught. After lecturing for 10 to 15 minutes, break the students up into small groups and assign a leader to each group. Provide a handout to each leader with discussion questions. Allow the group to discuss the topics for most of the class time. Have the groups come back together for the last 10 minutes of class, where you can reiterate the information taught at the beginning of class.
  
  

Allow Feedback

• Give the power of learning back to the students and allow them to express their opinions. Feedback can provide the students with the ability to process the information and interact with it and each other at the same time. Ask thought-provoking questions to get a feedback session going, and watch as students begin to engage. Once the feedback conversation is going, keep asking questions to continue to stimulate the conversation. Use the questions to steer the conversation and end up at the conclusion you want to teach from.
