In order to avoid acne, a lot of care is involved.
Using a product that causes comedos-blackheads and whiteheads, you are just asking for acne.
In order to avoid getting acne, use only products that are certified non-comedogenic.
Let me explain further about what comedogenicity is and how to steer clear of acne.
Comedogenicity is tested in most of the materials that are used for your skin and face.
The material is put on the inside of a rabbit's ear and then kept under close observation for three weeks to test for comedogenicity.
Then a biopsy is taken and the comedones are counted.
Depending on the formulation of comedones, and put on a scale of 0 to 5.
If something comes up a 0, this means that the product will not cause comedones and one that is a 5 will cause comedones, and therefore acne, with the largest quantity.
Please be aware of the fact that a skin care product may contain more than one ingredient with comedones.
The label will state if the product is comedogenic or non-comedogenic.
If you have problems staying acne-free, you want to use the product that is low in comedogenicity.
Remember that appearances can be tricky and that even mineral oil has 0 comedones! For the care of your skin, and to avoid acne, you need to take your products into consideration.
Use non-comedogenic products and if you use a product where you find the comedones increasing, try stopping usage of that product and see what happens.
Use your own judgement and your skin can't go wrong.
