    Repair the Damaged CD

    • 1). Pour 4 cups--about a quart--of water into a bowl.

    • 2). Add a drop of dishwashing liquid and mix.

    • 3). Dampen a lint-free cloth and gently wipe the readable side of the CD from the inside out.

    • 4). Hold the readable side of your disc up to a light source, and locate the scratches.

    • 5). Put a bit of toothpaste on a lint-free cloth, and gently rub the paste into the scratches with the cloth.

    • 6). Rinse the disc under warm water from the tap, then dry it with a clean, lint-free cloth.

    Burn the Repaired CD

    • 1). Turn on your computer, open your CD-burning software, and insert the repaired CD into your disc drive.

    • 2). Click the "Import" tab on your disc-burning software, and go to "File > New Playlist." Type in a name for your playlist.

    • 3). Click, drag and drop the imported repaired CD file into your playlist.

    • 4). Insert a blank CD-R into your CD drive, and click the "Burn" tab in the disc-burning software.
