Tila Tequila at Gathering of the Juggalos
Interestingly enough, one can trace the now traditional Psychopathic Records Gathering of the Juggalos artist-performer confrontation back to 2003 when southern rapper Bubba Sparxxx was booed off the stage. Every year since, any artist booed off the stage is said to receive the "Bubba Sparxxx" award.
Enter Psychopathic Records' Gathering of the Juggalos festival in 2010 where Tila Tequila and Juggalos famously clashed.
Tila Tequila and Juggalos Don't Play Well Together
As anyone who was there or has watched any of the YouTube videos documenting what actually happened to Tila Tequila at the Psychopathic Records Juggalo gathering can tell you, there were indeed many things thrown at her as she performed, causing her to "sing" behind a wall of security guards. The dynamic between Tila and Juggalos at the gathering unraveled as she continued to perform and at times repeatedly shouted "I'm not going anywhere!" The theater set quickly unraveled into a circus as time moved on.
Minutes later at the Gathering of the Juggalos, Tila Tequila removed her shirt at the urging of the crowd, which strangely only further invigorated the sea of Tila Tequila's Juggalo haters.
Things got bad enough at the Psychopathic Records Gathering of the Juggalos that Tila was soon forced to run off stage. She later recounted her version of the story to the media, saying that she was chased to her trailer by a crowd of 2,000 Juggalos who then surrounded her while she and her security guards locked themselves in. This much has proven to be false, however the severity of her wounds remains contested between Juggalos and Tila Tequila, with Psycopathic Records and Juggalo faithful arguing she had a few cuts but wore band aids for weeks for publicity.
Psychopathic Records Conspiracy Theory
After the Tila Tequila Juggalos incident at the Psychopathic Records event, some Juggalos theorized that Violent J and the other Psychopathic Records members responsible for booking Tila Tequila at the Juggalo gathering festival must have seen this one coming. Juggalos are notorious for having great disdain for anyone cozy with popular music or mainstream culture; that's where the conspiracies come in. Some believe that at last year's Gathering of the Juggalos, Tila Tequila was invited by Psychopathic Records curators for this reason exactly, so that she could win the infamous Bubba Sparxxx award hands down.
Gathering of the Juggalos Warned Tila Tequila in Advance
However, there's reason to question the theory that Violent J and the rest of the Psychopathic Records family deliberately planted Tila Tequila at the Juggalo gathering as a target. As Violent J tells TMZ, he warned Tila beforehand that Juggalos might not take kindly to her. He says he went so far as to tell Tila that even if her night ended early because of a negative response, she would still get the money owed to her.
The performance was to occur regardless at Psychopathic Records' Gathering of the Juggalos, as Tila opted to go ahead with the performance anyway, responding "I'm not a bitch like that."
What's Being Done to Prevent It From Happening Again?
Due to Violent J, Shaggy 2 Dope and other Psychopathic Records artists making their disappointment in the fans' behavior last year public and festival producers booking talent more in line with Juggalo standards in 2011, it's not looking like there will be any major issues at this year's Gathering of the Juggalos.
