    • 1). Lay out a tarp on the inside surface of the rear window to protect speaker covers, upholstery or other obstacles. Move to the outside of the vehicle and spray the outside of the rear window with water. Split a large plastic garbage bag open, lay it flat on the window and trim it to the size of the window.

    • 2). Spray the inside of the rear window with undiluted ammonia and cover the window with a second plastic bag that has been split and trimmed it to fit. Park your vehicle in the hot sun for one hour. After one hour, turn the car heater and defroster on to the high setting and let it run for 15 minutes to get the auto glass heated. This will help soften the window film adhesive.

    • 3). Remove the glass film from a side window first. Start to peel back the window film in one corner of the window using a new single-edge razor blade. Most auto film is made with two layers and the heated window will allow for both layers of the film to be peeled off together. Gently and slowly pull the film with your fingers working your way down to the bottom of the window. Repeat this process for each side window.

    • 4). Clean off any sticky adhesive spots that did not peel off with the film by spraying the glass with glass cleaner and scrape the window clean with a razor blade. Finish by wiping the glass dry with paper towels.

    • 5). Remove the auto tint from the rear window in a similar fashion, trying to remove it in one piece. Start at one corner of the window and with a razor blade or your fingernail, peel back a small portion of the film, being careful not to cut the defroster lines. Slowly pull the film with your fingers and as you peel, spray the film with ammonia if it starts to dry out.

    • 6). Finish the process by repeating Step 4 to clean up and dry the inside of the rear window. Remove the garbage bag from the outside of the rear window, spray with glass cleaner and wipe dry.
