How to Get a Real Relationship on MMORPG
Two years ago, I downloaded my free 30 Warcraft trial because my best friend had one and had all but completely disappeared into her house.
She couldn't even talk on the phone anymore because she was always on WoW.
I got my trial so I could at least chat with her.
She even told me I could voice chat and that would reduce our phone bills.
Being girls and prone to talk for hours on end, this was not irrelevant! So I got my trial and was fully addicted within 24 hours.
I swear, Warcraft should come with a Government Health Warning - lol.
That's how I came to be a woman on WoW.
My personal history at that stage was that I had only had one boyfriend in my life and I married him very young.
Had two little children, discovered he was cheating on me and then spent nearly 8 years single.
Due to the cheating, I had serious trust issues and due to the pain and trauma cause not just to me but also our children, I was extremely closed off and had no intention of letting anyone else into my family until my children were grown.
Then along came an adorable little Dwarf Hunter.
Both of us lost in Booty Bay and he asked me where the mail box was.
I made some extremely un-ladylike comments about the architects of Booty Bay and then we were talking.
It was out of character for both of us, but I guess we both decided that even though we weren't in the same guild, that we liked each other's company.
Days turned into weeks and we both learned more about the other.
Here is the part where MMORPG and Warcraft in particular give you a huge advantage when finding your soul mate or a good friend.
You get the initial anonymity of internet dating with a fun arena to interact in.
Chatting away about your life on written or voice chat while killing mobs is relaxing and much like wearing a mask.
Be honest! There is never any point in pretending to be what you are not.
And why would you even want to.
If you end up getting together then your partner is quickly going to discover any lies.
If you don't then you risk losing a friend by playing it false in the first place.
Take your time.
Quest together, stop and watch the online sunset and get to know each other.
You can ask anything, you can be completely honest because you can't see the other person's face or become self conscious about their responses.
If it works out, then you know you have a partner who knows you truly.
Another Bonus: no physical self-consciousness.
In my case, I was combining a Warcraft relationship with a long distance one.
I am in Australia and he is in the US.
After 6 months I flew over and we spent one wonderful month together.
There was nervousness about meeting on both parts (by this time we were emailing, phoning regularly and had exchanged photos) but because we already loved each other, there was none of the normal extreme anxiety about appearance.

Anyone you love always seems more attractive in your eyes.
We have now been together for nearly two years.
We are coping with the distance relationship issues and are working towards a future together.
