How to Rid Your Pond of Noxious Plants
- 1). Scoop out all of the plants in the pond, taking care to properly dispose of all noxious plants.
- 2). Remove fish or any other aquatic animals from the pond.
- 3). Drain the pond completely, making sure to move any rocks or other items that prevent water from draining.
- 4). Spray the pond with a mixture containing one part bleach to three parts water. Be sure to get under and around rocks, decorations and drains.
- 5). Scrub the pond thoroughly with a brush. Keep a hose or spray bottle on hand to wet the surface as needed.
- 6). Refill the pond with water, adding 1/4 cup of bleach for every gallon of water.
- 7). Run the fountain or filtration system on the pond for about one hour so that the bleach water comes into contact with all parts of the pond and filtration system.
- 8). Drain the pond completely.
- 9). Rinse the pond thoroughly, being sure to run fresh water through the filtration system and hosing off all rocks and decorations.

Refill the pond, adding only new plants from a reliable nursery. Returning old plants to the pond could reintroduce the noxious plants, as well.
