Dating An Older Woman - Why Not?
When I was at school the thought of dating an older girl filed me with excitement.
Don't get me wrong I was 15 and had no intention to push the boundaries too far but a girl in sixth form was my dream.
Well that dream was realised but I was getting older myself and over the next ten years my girlfriends tended to be either the same age or a few years younger.
This trend continued until that great day in my life when I married the love of my life that incidentally is 5 years younger than me.
Now I am sure my experiences are not unique, the reality is that it is almost a cliché that men want to date younger girls but why would a man want to date an older women.
Experience: When I was researching this article with my mates in the pub, the main reason that I gained universal approval was that older women have experience.
They say that youth is wasted on the young and this can be a problem with girls who lack the mental maturity that goes with their sexuality.
While youth to some is undoubtedly appealing sexuality comes with experience and knowledge.
An older woman will know what makes her tick and hopefully what buttons to press to get you going.
More importantly though the art of sex can involve the mind and quite often this type of stimulation is not present in younger girls.
Maturity: An older woman generally knows what she wants and how to get it.
She is less likely to mess with your head and will hopefully make the relationship run a little smoother.
With maturity comes refinement (hopefully) and a sense of how to enjoy the finer things in life.
I am sure younger men don't want to be going to the Opera every week but surely finer restaurants are better than fast food followed by a quickie! Maternal: Not a reason that I would have chosen but some men do like to be looked after.
I am not saying that modern day cougars posses all the mothering instincts but I have known guys who's older girl friends treat them better than their mothers used to.
Independence: Older women are generally more established in their careers have gained financial security.
If this is so they are less likely to rely on a man to support them.
One advantage is that a younger successful guy is less likely to fall foul of the gold digger type if his chosen older woman is equally successful.
Disadvantages The Biological Clock: With age comes the realisation that dating an older women will not only provide your mates with material for banter "what are you doing out with your Mum" but be sure to consider that your older partner will probably be conscious of her age.
With maturity comes the need for security and the age old desire to settle down and have children.
Baggage:If you are determined to date an older woman it may be advisable to find out how much of her past is involved in her current life.
The last think you want is to be dealing with the stress of old bad relationships.
