No, it is not by taking pills, not by improving your diet (although that can help considerably), and not by exercising (also good advice).
It is simply by learning to breathe with the support of your diaphragm.
Of course, your response may be that you do breathe.
And, while you may be breathing, you are probably a shallow or lazy breather.
It is a medical fact that 99% of the population does not breathe correctly.
All mammals breathe with the support of the diaphragm and you were born breathing properly.
The problem is that as you developed, you stopped the practice of breathing with support and reverted to using only your upper chest muscles for respiration.
The result is a less oxygen to the brain and the inability to rid your body of its toxins thereby increasing stress.
This inability to eliminate the toxins in your body actually increases your stress.
So, if you are already carrying a lot of tension throughout your day, your shallow or lazy breathing is actually increasing that tension.
The 1st thing that is taught for those who experience panic attacks is to start breathing diaphragmatically.
My question to you, however, is, if this type of breathing relaxes the body thereby eliminating one's panic, can you imagine eliminating more of the stress in your life just by learning how to breathe with this support and doing it 24/7? I can't tell you the amazing benefits my clients have discovered from making diaphragmatic breathing a habit.
The list below shows just a few of them.
1.
Control of nervousness in public speaking or in the job interview.
2.
Sleeping more deeply and the ability to fall asleep faster.
3.
An improved golf and tennis swing as well as more control over your bowling bowl.
4.
