Purchase a Laptop with a Russian Keyboard

• You can purchase a Dell laptop computer with a Russian keyboard by visiting the Dell website, clicking on the drop down box to transfer to the Russian website and making your selection. It's very important to note that as of August, 2009, Dell will not ship computers with Russian keyboards to any nation outside of Russia.
  
  Dell computers will not custom make a laptop with a Russian keyboard. Further, if you attempt to discuss this with Dell, refer to the keyboard as Russian. Its proper name is a Cyrillic keyboard, but few people outside Russia understand this fact.
  
  

Installing a Russian Keyboard

• You can purchase a Russian keyboard for a Dell laptop. These are available at several online retailers, and can be shipped to any nation. To change the keyboards, you will need to remove the original keyboard and install the new one.
  
  Unplug the laptop and remove the battery. You will need to open the laptop as far as it will go. Insert a flat head screwdriver between the keyboard cover and the laptop base. Gently lift the cover off. Remove the screws that secure the keyboard and set them aside. Carefully lift the keyboard off until you can access the connection under the keyboard. Gently open the connection door and unplug the keyboard.
  
  Plug in the new keyboard, close the door and seat the keyboard into place. Replace the screws and return the keyboard cover to its original position, being careful to gently snap it back into place.
  
  

Apply Keyboard Overlays

• Keyboard overlays are transparent vinyl coverings that you can apply to your existing keyboard so that you are able to accurately type in Cyrillic. The Cyrillic letters will be in a color of your choosing and will still allow you to use the keyboard for typing in English and other languages that use the Latin alphabet.
  
  The overlays will arrive in a sheet, much like stickers. The sheet itself is usually designed as a keyboard with the Latin alphabet printed underneath the overlays. In this way, you know exactly which overlay to apply to each key. Peel off the overlay, place it on the key and press firmly.
