    Troubleshooting USB Transfer Method

    • 1). Turn off your camcorder before inserting the USB cable. If your camcorder is on when you connect to your Mac, iMovie may not recognize the camcorder.

    • 2). Verify that the USB cable is properly connected to your camcorder and your Mac.

    • 3). Open iMovie. If your camcorder is not automatically recognized, select "File" and select "Import from camera" to transfer the camera's movie files.

    Transferring Via SD Card

    • 1). Verify that your camcorder is off before attempting to remove the SD card. Since Cannon camcorders with memory cards can save information onto the memory card, your camcorder does not need to be connected to a Mac for this type of data transfer.

    • 2). Ensure that you insert the memory card facing upward when inserting it into your Mac's SD slot. All Mac computers made after 2009 will include an SD memory card slot.

    • 3). Open iMovie to start transferring movies.
